As you celebrate this special day with your significant other, think of something creative.  Sure, you can go to dinner and buy flowers and candy.  But, if your significant has a hobby, try to get them  a gift related to that hobby — it’s all about stepping outside of the box and for dinner, I am sure  a meal prepared by your loving hands and served in the privacy of your home or hotel room, complete with candlelight and soft music will be greatly appreciated.   If you both like wine, increase your knowledge by scheduling both for a wine tasting/class.  Today, as many people are struggling financially, do not feel obligated to spend a ton of money.  This goes back to being creative.  Purchase an inexpensive journal and give it to your significant other so you can both document the special times that you share together or plan a romantic movie night at home.  Rent classic love stories from Casablanca to Love Jones — purchase all of the movie theater goodies and treat your special person to an evening at the movies.

No matter how you celebrate this day, remember that love lasts all year round.  But, there is nothing wrong with doing something a little extra on February 14 that will earn you a few extra cool points with that special man or lady in your life.    Whatever you do, do not forget this day because if you do, you will be in much trouble

The next step is to develop a “realistic” budget and stick to it.  If you can afford to have a $100,000 wedding, go for it.  It is your wedding and of course it should be exactly what you dreamed it would be, but remember, you have to live after this one day.  If your budget is $30,000, try to stay within that budget.  Having a fabulous wedding does not mean you have to go broke doing it.  Believe it or not, there are various ways to cut costs without sacrificing what you really want.

C ongratulations! Some of you thought you would never, ever get married.  But, it happened. You met the most amazing woman in the world and you cannot wait to spend the rest of your life with her.  You do not know when or how, but one day, you woke up and realized that you were incomplete and decided that it was time to pop the question.  You spent countless hours and dollars looking for the perfect ring.  Now, you know what is next, planning the wedding.

Chances are your bride has been thinking of this day since she was five years old and yes, tradition calls for the wedding being paid for by the bride’s parents.  But, those days are long gone.   Remember, this is your wedding too.   I know it may be intimidating and overwhelming at first because there are countless decisions to be made,  but just breathe and most importantly, enjoy planning the most important day of your life.

E vents of Sophistication presents Diamonds & Cufflinks, an exciting wedding planning experience for brides and grooms. This event will feature wedding service professionals,  mini seminar sessions which will give couples an opportunity to obtain valuable information, and more. During the event, guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and strolling magic  in a cocktail setting.

Grooms will also have a chance to relax in the “Cigars & Cufflinks” groom room and brides can be pampered in the “Diamonds & Pearls bridal suite.

A portion of the proceeds from Diamonds & Cufflinks will be donated to Project Pink, Inc., a non-profit organization founded in 2011, dedicated to making an immediate and real difference in the lives of the women and families impacted by breast cancer.

Project Pink’s mission is to educate young women with sound and simple life-saving advice about breast health, for the purpose of preventing metastatic disease, grant wishes to those living with Stage IV breast cancer, and provide college scholarships to children who lost a parent to breast cancer.  For additional information on Project Pink, Inc., please visit their website at http://www.projectpinkinc.org/
